BIO
My name is Yansa de la Caridad Terry Araujo, born in Havana (Cuba) in 1993. In 2016 I graduated with high honors (Suma Cum Laude) in Sociology at the University of Havana, defending a thesis dedicated to the study of the social impact of Cooperatives in the commercialization of agricultural products in urban areas. In that same year, in recognition of my academic qualifications, I began working as a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Havana, teaching the subject Sociological Theory. In 2018, as a member of the Department of Sociology, I started the Master's Degree in Sociology, expanding the aforementioned research topics. In 2021, as a continuity to the research conducted in the Bachelor's degree, I defend my Master's thesis on the insertion of the so-called cooperative markets in the agricultural marketing structure in the capital, assessing the strategies they would apply and specifically their situation within the political-normative framework, after having been designated an experimental condition.
The results of my field work have allowed me to participate in several academic networks (National Union of Jurists of Cuba, Network of Researchers on Youth, Network of Labor Studies, among others). From my alliances within the Youth Researchers Network, I joined the Center for Youth Studies (CESJ) in 2021, and there I have been able to develop my work as a researcher, in parallel to the work I do as a professor at the UH. As a professor and researcher I have been able to participate in several national and international events; various research projects (inside and outside the university); publishing several articles in digital formats. Among my publications is the article "Alternative ways of empowering youth. The experience of young people in the Cooperative Markets of the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución" published in Revista Alternativas of the University of Guayaquil and the article "More than a decade of research work in sociology at the University of Havana (2000-2018)" in Revista Horizontes y Raíces of the University of Havana. My main lines of research revolve around the topics of labor relations, agricultural marketing, rural youth and agricultural cooperativism.
